Mom's Birthday

My mom's birthday was this past Friday, March 2nd. My older sister, Amy planned a surprise party for her at the Country Club with our immediate family. We had been planning on babysitting Jillian on Thursday and Friday night for months now, so Jillian came with us to celebrate Mrs. Mary's birthday! We all met at my parents house before dinner, so mom could open her gifts and cards.

My mom means so much to me! I honestly do not know what I would do without her! All of her girls are grown now and out of the house, yet she still spends most of her day doing things for us! I talk to my mom on the phone AT LEAST twice a day (usually on my way in to work, and on my way home in the mornings), and even though am 26 years old, I will rarely purchase an article of clothing without her approval! She is so unselfish and nurturing, and I am so thankful that God created her to be MY mother!

I won't tell you how old she is because she probably wouldn't want it posted on the internet...but it wouldn't matter if I did, because you wouldn't believe me! Doesn't she look great!!!!

Spoiled!

Today is Wesley's last day of doing a clinical rotation at Flowers Hospital in Dothan. He and his friend Nick have been living at my parents house for the past 4 weeks. They have gotten to come back to PC on the weekends though. It is true what they say...absence does make the heart grow fonder! But it was hard for me to be too sad about him being gone, because he was getting spoiled rotten by my mother (and dad too!) It was nice not having to cook or worry about what to fix Wesley for dinner, but almost every night between 5:30-6:30 while I was eating a turkey sandwich or tuna fish, I would get a picture message from my dad that looked like this...

My mom has found a ton of new recipes on Pinterest and thought that she would let Wesley and Nick be her "guinea pigs." I know that my dad loved eating big meals every night too! Wesley and Nick stayed late in the OR most days and by the time that they got home, I know that they were thrilled to have a hot meal waiting on them. I think I was more than a little bit jealous if you want to know the truth!

Thanks Mom and Dad for taking such great care of my husband while we were apart! The only bad thing is that he may have gotten used to the hot meals every night, and I may have my work cut out for me!

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day! We had to celebrate a little early since Wesley is busy during the week doing clinicals in Dothan. We went to dinner at Firefly on Saturday night and then went to the movies to see Man on a Ledge. It was a very fun date night! Then yesterday I got these....

They are absolutely beautiful! I am so thankful to have such a thoughtful Valentine! Hope you all have a great day celebrating the people in your life that you LOVE...whether it be a spouse, girlfriend/boyfriend, or family and friends!

Weekend Getaway

This weekend we went with the Newhouse family to Destin. We stayed in a Bungalow in SanDestin and the house had a 6-seater golf cart that we were able to use. We rode back and forth to Baytowne Wharf several times on it to eat or just to play!

This was us at PF Chang's on Friday night. Our hostess asked if we had all just had family pictures taken since we were all dressed alike! haha! None of us planned on wearing the same color!

During the winter months, Baytown Wharf has an ice skating rink. I haven't been ice skating since I was very small and was very nervous I would break a bone, but Joy convinced me that I should give it a try. Despite a minor altercation with the ice skating attendant, it was a lot of fun...even though I looked pretty stupid and VERY uncomfortable on the ice! Wesley videoed it, but I think I should go ahead and delete the video evidence. I didn't look as much like a figure skater as I would have hoped!

We ended the vacation by all going to see a 3D movie. It was mine and Wesley's first 3D show, and we were very impressed! We saw The adventures of Tin Tin. It was really cute....especially in 3D!

Pack Family Christmas and New Years Eve

We spent Christmas Day and the day after at Wesley's parents house in Lincoln, AL. His parents made seafood gumbo and jambalaya this year to get away from the traditional holiday foods. We all enjoyed the "Cajun Christmas" as his mom called it! And of course we had plenty of sweet treats for dessert! It was great getting to be with so many people in his family at once. Here are a few pics of our Christmas with them:

Nanny's husband, Jim, got everyone these puzzles that are difficult to figure out! We all spent some time on Sunday afternoon playing with them!

This weekend has been the perfect ending to a great year! We celebrated Wesley's birthday on Friday. He wanted to grill out at home and watch a movie for his birthday. It was so nice to have a yummy steak dinner and just be able to relax at home. On Saturday I got to meet Alisa and Lindsay for lunch in Rosemary Beach since they were both down for New Years, and then I met Wesley, Nick, Joy, and Jillian at the beach and we sat with our toes in the sand until the sunset. Then we met back over at their house for homemade pizzas and Auburn football. Wesley and I were shocked that we were actually awake to watch the PC Beach Ball drop on TV at midnight!

It's hard to believe that 2011 has come to a close! I am so excited about this year though, and I know that The Lord has a perfect plan for our future! I just can't wait to see how His plan unfolds!

A "Magical" past few days!

We have had a whirlwind, but very FUN long weekend! On Saturday we watched the Gooding Class of 2011 graduate. During graduation, Wesley received a scholarship! It was a scholarship that is given to the "most outstanding junior." It was a wonderful surprise. Wesley was so honored, and we were both thrilled! It will only pay a fraction of his tuition, but that is just a little bit sooner we will be able to pay off student loans! We are counting down until this time next year when Wesley will graduate too!

How did we celebrate the scholarship?? We went to DISNEY WORLD! Actually the trip with my family had been planned for months, but it was perfect timing to leave right after Wesley got the scholarship! It was Wesley's first trip to Disney, so we wanted to make sure he saw all of the parks while we were there! We all had a wonderful time at the parks during the day, and then my dad treated us all to nice dinners at night. My computer is not letting me upload pictures to blogger right now....it may be a good thing because I took over 350! My parents gave us a new camera for Christmas, and we got to open it when we got to Orlando. I think I captured every single second! I'll try to upload JUST A FEW pics again later! There are a lot on facebook already.
