Update!

A lot has happened since my last post. Last Tuesday, Wesley and I went to Panama City for me to interview for a job and to look for a place to live. It was a very productive 48 hours. I was offered a job in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Gulf Coast Medical Center and we signed a lease on a home! It has been so neat to see the Lord's plan unfold.

I absolutely LOVE the townhouse that we found. It is a community called Baldwin Rowe and has a pool and a private lake. Our townhouse is 1,900 square feet, has hardwood floors, granite counter-tops in the kitchen, all new appliances, the master bathroom has a double vanity sink and garden tub....I could go on and on! Another great thing about where we will be living is the location. It is right across the street from Gooding (where Wesley is going to CRNA school), and is only about 3 miles from my hospital and about 10 minutes from Bay Medical Center. Here are some pics of our townhouse. (It had not been cleaned because the last renter had moved out the day before)

(the stove is propped up to be cleaned)

This weekend, Wesley's unit manager hosted a going away pool party for him at her home. It is going to be really hard leaving Auburn because of the friends that we have here, but also because of how blessed that we have been with great co-workers!

Happy Fathers Day to my Dad!

My dad is so special to me! He raised his 3 daughters in a loving and Christian home and is such a great example of what it means to follow the Lord's will for your life. His patients LOVE him! It seems like he is always coming home with homemade cakes and pies from patients that drive long distances just to have a few minutes of his time. He has been such a wonderful Father-in-law to my husband and a great example of how to be a Christian leader of a household.

When I was a kid, I used to be scared to spend the night away from home. I loved to play at friends houses, and would always try to stay the whole night, but at wee hours of the morning, I would go wake up my friend's mother and tell her that I was sick and needed to go home. I vividly remember one night....I had attempted to spend the night with a friend, and went through the same routine. My friend's mother tried to convince me to stay over there and just watch TV until at least 6am so that I wouldn't wake my parents up. That just wouldn't work, I wanted to go home and sleep in my own bed. When my dad got there, (it was always him that had the duty to pick me up at 3am) I remember crying in the car and telling him that I was sorry, and he said, "Don't worry about it! I would drive all the way to Texas to get you if you wanted to come home!" Not sure why Texas, or even why I remember that he said that, but I will never forget it! He didn't get mad at me like most parents would, he was just glad that he could comfort me and drive me home.

I could go on and on about how patient of a father that he is for always putting up with 4 women, how special it was that he tucked us into bed every night and prayed with us, or how much fun that we all have with him on family vacations, but it would take all day! .....not to mention that he was so patient when it came to wedding planning this year, and never once complained about the cost (although I know that it must have been way too much) or about all of the choas that lead up to the BIG DAY!

Dad, I love you so much! I hate that we couldn't be in Dothan to celebrate Father's Day with you this year. Can't wait to see you later this week!

I am so proud to be your daughter!

You might be a REDNECK if.....

You are driving down the road and see this.....

and think to do this..... (I actually sat in the bed of the truck under the pool for half of the ride home so that it wouldn't fall out into the road)

all so that your dogs will have a place to cool off this summer!

Please do not judge us! haha! If we do things like this for our dogs, I can only imagine what we will do for our children!

Our trip to Fort Worth!

Wesley and I left on Thursday for Fort Worth, Texas for a friend's wedding. Christine, the bride, was in our nursing school class at Auburn. She and Wesley sat together all throughout nursing school and became close friends. This was Wesley's second trip to her hometown, and so I was really excited to experience all the things that I have heard about the past few years. We flew from Birmingham with Cami, another good friend from school, and her boyfriend, Matt. Thursday night we ate at a famous Mexican restaurant called Joe T. Garcia's. The waiter told us that the restaurant can seat around 1,600 people at one time. IT IS HUGE! There are only 2 items on the menu: enchiladas or fajitas. It is mainly an outdoor restaurant and the place was crowded! The food was delicious but the atmosphere was even better!

On Friday, Wesley and I headed to the Stockyards and got to see the bulls come down the street! It definitely made me feel like we were in Texas!

The rehearsal dinner on Friday night was at a restaurant called Grady's. It was delicious! I had some of the best beef tenderloin that I have ever eaten! It was a very special rehearsal dinner. Christine and Austin have been dating since middle school, over a decade! It is rare that someone marries their middle school sweetheart, but it was obvious that these two were made for each other.

Saturday Wesley and I exercised on the trail that surrounds Fort Worth....I walked....he ran, but with the 100 degree heat, we both got a good workout! Then we ate at a famous BBQ restaurant called Angelos. The BBQ is beef, not pork like here in Alabama. It was delicious, but was an experience to see all of the "real cowboys" eating in the hats and boots!

The wedding took place on Austin's parents ranch, The Five Aces Ranch, in Aledo, Texas. They said their vows in a pecan grove and then the reception was across from the grove in a HUGE white tent! Everything about the wedding and reception was beautiful and unique. Austin played college baseball in Virginia, and he asked that the wedding start at 7:05 (like most baseball games). They served Toomer's lemonade since Christine graduated from Auburn. We were all hot and sweaty in the Texas heat, but had a wonderful night!

Back from the Beach!

Wesley and I just got home from a great beach trip with great friends! After a crazy past few weeks with working and interviewing for jobs in Panama City, it was about time for a little vacation! This group has gone to the beach every year for the past 6 years. All of the guys either are or were at some point Auburn firefighters. I got to go for the first time with this group 2 years ago when Wesley and I were just dating, and we hope that this will be a tradition that we will always continue! It was amazing how much had changed since the trip 2 years ago! Kyle and LaRae now have a baby girl, Anna Kate, who came along on the trip with us, Adam and Elena are expecting their first baby, Reese, who will be making her grand appearance in September, Wesley and I are now newlyweds, Adam and Adrianne have just recently gotten engaged, etc! It is unbelievable to think what all can change in just a short period of time! Here are some pics from our fun weekend:

Elena and her cute baby bump at 24 weeks!

Abby and Nelson Bauer met us for dinner at Cosmos!

all of the girls before dinner Friday night

Another thing about this year's beach trip that was different was the search for "TAR BALLS" from the oil spill! Yes, we did see quite a few on the beach today before we left! Yuck!
