Jennifer and Jon's wedding weekend in Nashville

Wesley and I have been looking forward to this past weekend for a while now. We both love who Jennifer married and feel like he makes a great addition to our family. It is kinda weird how the size of your family doubles when you get married, and it is continuing to grow!

Wesley couldn't get out of class early on Friday, so we flew out of PC and made it just in time for the Rehearsal Dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory in downtown Nashville.

Isn't Wesley's grandma the cutest thing!!

The wedding was at 2:00 on Saturday. It was my first Catholic wedding to ever go to so I had planned on a long wedding, but the wedding lasted about an hour and we headed to the reception which was at a place called One Eleven Broadway.

During the ceremony, we noticed the bottom of Jon's shoes when they were kneeling. So cute:)

Here are a few more pics from the weekend!

Birthdays and Baby Showers

Last weekend was my grandmother's 81st birthday! Wesley and I drove up to Dothan to celebrate with my family. We took Grandma a cake and were so happy when 2 of her best friends from Headland showed up to eat cake with us! Wesley said it was like spending an afternoon with the Golden Girls! We both said that we hope to have sweet friends to celebrate birthdays with us when we are 81!

Since last weekend, her heath has gotten worse. She is now on oxygen and has moved in to my parents house. Please keep her in your prayers.

Yesterday we hosted a baby shower for Maggie Serota, one of my best friends from high school. We had the shower at Taylor's house in Birmingham. Everything went well and there was a great turnout.

She got a lot of great things for the baby! Her name is going to be a surprise, but I am looking forward to meeting that little girl in 10 weeks!

Don't cry over spilt milk....

OR spilt green bean casserole!! Last night we were going to have a delicious dinner. My mom made some wonderful white wine chicken and froze it for us. Our plan was to heat that and have sweet potatoes, and I asked Wesley what other side he wanted me to fix. He said either squash casserole or green bean casserole. I thought that green bean casserole sounded so good, so I went to Publix and got all of the ingredients. I guess I got a little too excited about our dinner, and when I pulled the casserole out of the oven, I didn't get a good grip and dropped it!!!!!!!! It doesn't look nearly as appetizing when it is out of the casserole dish. We had to wait for the oven to cool before we could really scrub it and the storage space under the oven.

In other news, I am LOVING this fall weather. It has inspired me to start decorating for fall. I am not doing too much this year because I won't have a lot of space to store the decorations that I buy, but I was excited to decorate a little bit.

Grandma

We got some upsetting news this week. My grandmother (my dads mom) was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer. We know that it is aggressive because a few months ago her chest x-ray was clear, and the one this week showed significant disease progression. Because she is 81 years old, the chemo and radiation would do her more harm than good, so the decision was made not to treat the disease, but to treat the pain.

After my dad told her the news and talked to her about the plan, her response was, "Edwin, you have given me a wonderful gift. You have told me that I will get to go and be with Papa." She is so strong in her faith and said that if this is what the Lord has planned for her, than she is ok and is at peace! Please keep her and my family in your prayers.

These pictures were taken at our wedding in March! The lead singer of the band got her up on stage and she danced with us! Such a wonderful memory!!!

Erin's getting married!!!

Yesterday was Erin's bridal shower in Montgomery. I am so glad that I was able to be there for her first shower, and it was great to see some of my best friends!

Wesley's sister, Jennifer, and several of our closest friends are getting married in the next few months! I am so excited because it gives us an excuse to see so many friends that we don't get to see very often now that we are living in PC.

Speaking of weddings, Wesley and I have been married SIX MONTHS today! Time really does fly when you are having fun, and I am so thankful to be married to my favorite person in the entire world!

Labor Day Weekend

We have had a great Labor Day weekend. I was pretty wiped out after working nights last week, and it was so nice to spend a weekend at home...especially since Wesley had a long weekend off. We both would have LOVED to have been in Jordan Hare Stadium on Saturday, but it was nice to rest up and spend time in PC.

One of my best friends from high school, Mary Neal, and her family were in town staying at their beach house. Wesley and I went to their house on Friday night and visited, and then we all ended up at Beef-O-Brady's in Lynn Haven to watch the football games on Saturday.

Amy and my mom came to town on Sunday. They were here when Wesley and I got out of church and we all went to lunch at Uncle Ernie's on St. Andrew's Bay. We left Wesley at home to study while we went to Seaside to shop for the day.

I was planning on having to work on Monday night, but woke up on Monday with voice-mail that said that census in the NICU was low and that they were not going to need me. Wesley and I went to the gym and then spent the afternoon on the beach!

It was a pretty perfect weekend! I got to spend time with my husband, my family, and friends! Couldn't ask for much more!

Day One!

Today is Wesley's first day of CRNA school. Where has this month gone?? Saturday night we went to the Hail Party and got to meet all of his classmates, the upper classmen, and the faculty. We had a lot of fun meeting everyone and getting some advice from students.

Everyone keeps telling me how hard that the program is, and that I will never see Wesley! I've made a countdown chart! ha! I'm already ready to start crossing the months off!

We have tried to make the most of our time together the past few weeks. We went to Pensacola and visited our good friends Alana and David Steppe. David is in the Navy, and they will be moving to Washington in a couple of weeks, so we wanted to make the trip while they are so close to us. The guys threw the football along the Intercoastal Waterway while I tried to get sun, and Alana chased their cute dog Whidbey! We ate dinner that night with some of their friends and then went to the Flora-Bama!

Wesley's mom came this past week for a short visit before Wesley's schedule got crazy! We enjoyed her visit, but woke up on Friday to a disaster! Our kitchen was INFESTED with fire ants! Millions of them! I tried spraying them with Windex while Wesley called pest control! Fortunately our new friend, David, was there in less than an hour!

We are still enjoying Panama City! We know that this is where the Lord called us, and that this is all part of His perfect plan for our lives! I can't wait to see what all He has in store for us in the next 28 months!
