Day One!

Today is Wesley's first day of CRNA school. Where has this month gone?? Saturday night we went to the Hail Party and got to meet all of his classmates, the upper classmen, and the faculty. We had a lot of fun meeting everyone and getting some advice from students.

Everyone keeps telling me how hard that the program is, and that I will never see Wesley! I've made a countdown chart! ha! I'm already ready to start crossing the months off!

We have tried to make the most of our time together the past few weeks. We went to Pensacola and visited our good friends Alana and David Steppe. David is in the Navy, and they will be moving to Washington in a couple of weeks, so we wanted to make the trip while they are so close to us. The guys threw the football along the Intercoastal Waterway while I tried to get sun, and Alana chased their cute dog Whidbey! We ate dinner that night with some of their friends and then went to the Flora-Bama!

Wesley's mom came this past week for a short visit before Wesley's schedule got crazy! We enjoyed her visit, but woke up on Friday to a disaster! Our kitchen was INFESTED with fire ants! Millions of them! I tried spraying them with Windex while Wesley called pest control! Fortunately our new friend, David, was there in less than an hour!

We are still enjoying Panama City! We know that this is where the Lord called us, and that this is all part of His perfect plan for our lives! I can't wait to see what all He has in store for us in the next 28 months!

Enjoying our new hometown!

We are completely unpacked now and this house is starting to feel like home. Wesley and I are aware that our amount of quality time spent together is going to be greatly decreased once he starts school, so we are not taking these few weeks for granted. We have enjoyed trying new restaurants and trying to figure out our way around town. Last week we drove to Seaside and got a piece of Key Lime pie and then drove home! We stopped at Pier Park and walked to the edge of the pier during sunset. There are still a lot of tourists on the beach, but I have a feeling that the crowds are going to be gone soon since school is starting back.

I had hospital orientation all last week and worked my first night shift in the NICU last night. I got off work at 3am because the census was low, but I felt like I would have been wide awake until 7am if I had needed to be. I was worried about how I was going to stay awake considering I had never worked a night shift before, but there were a lot of new people to meet and a lot to learn! I am praying that my body will adjust well to my new schedule.

Today has been great so far! Wesley woke up at 5:00am to go fishing on the Pier at Pier Park. When he got home, he got back into bed and we both slept in! Then we went to the pool to get some sun. I read Eat, Pray, and Love and he read Anesthesia textbooks! Hopefully all of his reading will make the first few weeks a little easier!

A few pics of the new house :)

We have LOVED this week in Panama City! Now that most of the boxes are unpacked, we have been able to enjoy the beach and the pool. It has felt like a vacation which is nice since I start my new job on Monday. Here are some pics of the new house. (Please know that our house is not completely unpacked and we still have some decorating to do, but this is what it looks like so far!!)

(This is the love seat in the upsairs den/study. I didn't put a pic of the whole room on here because we still have some unpacking to do!)

Beacuse our porch is screened in, we have to bring the grill outside to use it. Here is a pic of Wesley grilled out hamburgers on Wednesday night! They were delicious!

We just saw on the news that The Obama's are going to be in Panama City August 14-15th! I better stop blogging and start cleaning...they will probably want to stop by for a visit!

Dealing with Adulthood

I've decided that it is not always fun being a grown-up! Today we talked to a State Farm saleswoman for an hour and a half about renter's insurance, car insurance, personal property insurance, and life insurance! After an hour and a half, I got delirious! I know that she thought that I was childish, but I honestly couldn't sit there and pay attention that long! I started playing with Wesley's phone and taking pictures, and Wesley looked at the woman and said, "She doesn't really like all of this grown-up stuff! We accidentally left her Game-boy in the car!" It was all that I could do to not burst out laughing! Bad news is that we made an appointment to meet with her again on Thursday!

We also joined a gym today called Health Plex. It is directly across the street from our townhouse and shares a parking lot with Wesley's school. We bought a washer and dryer from Lowe's and bought me a few scrubs to wear to work.

It was no day at the beach, but we are getting things accomplished! Hopefully by the end of the week we will have run all of our errands and can enjoy the water!

Transitions

The past few days have been a whirlwind! We packed boxes all last week and were both amazed how much "stuff" that we have. I have to admit that Wesley did 95% of the packing of boxes. I was HAPPY to be at work our last four days in Auburn so that I had an excuse to not have to pack boxes all day!

We had one last good-bye dinner at Niffer's with sweet friends and kept talking in the parking lot until someone suggested that we go to SNO-BIZ! It was the perfect summer dessert!

On Friday, my co-workers surprised me with a going away ice-cream party! It meant so much to me, and it was fun telling everyone "see you later!" I just couldn't tell people "goodbye", and I am still planning on seeing them soon for weddings and baby showers!

Saturday when I got off of work, I tried to help Wesley load the U-Haul. It was over 100 degrees and humid outside, and I will be honest...I was pretty miserable. But at 5:30pm we shut the U-Haul and pulled out of the driveway of our first home! I got sentimental when we were leaving. My favorite memory at the house in Auburn was eating breakfast with Wesley the week we got back from our honeymoon. He looked over at me and said, "How much fun is this!!!" Just eating breakfast together in our PJ's and we were having the time of our lives!

Saturday night we got to Dothan and spent the night at my parents house. Sunday morning at 7:00am we all got in different cars and headed for Panama City!!! Wesley drove the U-Haul, my dad drove Wesley's truck, I drove my car, and mom and Amy followed in Mom's car. We had to stop and get a picture when we crossed the Florida line!

The rest of the day, Wesley and Dad unloaded the U-Haul and Mom, Amy, and I started decorating! We all worked until 7:00pm and we were all so pleased with how much we got done and how great that the house was starting to look! We couldn't have done so much without the help of my family, and it meant so much to me and to Wesley to have them there during our move and this huge milestone in our life!

Today has been a great day! We both slept like logs last night and have gotten a lot done today. We even rode the strip!!! I went grocery shopping while Wesley got our cable set up, and we went shopping for a washer and dryer. We still have A LOT of unpacking to do, but both feel like this is going to be a really fun 28 months!

I will post more pictures of the house once it is complete! Until then, I will keep unpacking boxes! :)
